Railway Engineers' Forum
The Railway Engineers Forum (REF) is a multi-disciplinary body drawn from the Professional Institutions with strong railway interests:
The aim of the REF is to harmonise the various strengths of the constituent Institutions in devising and implementing their programmes of activities in support of the railway community. This will encompass such activities as conferences, seminars, lectures, training, information services, publications and statements of policy to Government and other Regulatory Body policies. The harmonisation process will aim to avoid duplication or duplication of events, to promote joint ventures whenever this is advantageous and to maximise the visibility of such activities to the widest possible audience.
The REF publishes a monthly combined events list of the meetings of all the Institutions, where these are of cross disciplinary interest.
Railway Young Professionals
The Young Railway Professionals have come together through the younger members' sections of the Rail Engineers Forum (REF), which is comprised of the Institution of Railway Operators (IRO), Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE), Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) and the Permanent Way Institution (PWI).
It is their aim to inspire young professionals to see the wider rail industry and understand the deeper perspective on their role within the railway. They also hope to assist young professionals to network and build links across the industry, benefitting your careerin the long-term. See the more information panel for access to their website.
