North American section
Inauguration
The North American section had its initial meeting in Louisville, Kentucky on May 24, 2002.
Since then, Annual General Meetings have featured an industry conference and field trips of interest to the Signals and Communications community.
How to join
Membership of the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers is required before you can become a member of the North American section of the IRSE. You will then need to complete a North American section application form which is available from the "more information" box at the right of this page.
2011 AGM & Conference
The next conference and AGM of the North American Section (NAS) is still being planned. Further details will be available later in 2010.
2010 AGM & Conference at RSSI
On May 17th, 2010 the North American Section (NAS) held a conference and its Annual General Meeting at the Quest Convention Center in Omaha, Nebraska. It was again held in conjunction with the Railway Systems Suppliers Inc. (RSSI) annual product show. See the More Information box for details of the AGM and the conference which featured papers on Positive Train Control (PTC), High Speed Rail in the USA and experience with implementation of ERTMS in Europe.
